8U Softball Skills Clinic

Is your player new to softball? Perhaps your player has never tried tee ball, quickball, or softball? Skills clinics are a great way to introduce new players to a sport. No long-term commitment. Frequent rotations of fun drills. No equipment necessary. Led by the coaches and 12U players of Downingtown Storm Softball.

What to Expect

Players do not have to come with gloves, bats, bags, cleats, face masks, or any other softball equipment. We will be using various balls (tennis balls, anywhere balls, limited flight, micro balls, and wiffle balls) that are safe and forgiving for new players.
We will focus on the underlying skills required. For example, to successfully have a catch, a player must visually track the ball and squeeze it mid-flight. In order to field a grounder, a player must position themselves properly and have a feel for the ball. We will be using bare hands and paddles for grounders; not gloves.
What to Bring
- Large water bottle
- Snack
- Sunscreen
- Closed toed, athletic shoes (ideally sneakers or if your player already has cleats, feel free to use those)
- Wear clothing that can be wet (for the water balloons, etc.)
- Towel and change of clothes (optional)
- Flip flops or water shoes (recommended)
